Parenting Support
Parents have the difficult and challenging responsibility of supporting their child or adolescent through challenges while managing their own stress levels. This can introduce added stressors on the parent and family. Thus, parents may view themselves negatively or doubt their parenting decisions. While focusing on their child, parents often forget about their own emotional wellbeing. Parents may feel discouraged and alone which leads to avoidance or reluctance in seeking help for their own challenges. They may feel pressure to be the “perfect parent.” As parents strive to do the best for their child, it is easy to forget there is no “perfect parent” or “perfect decision.” An environment where experiences and challenges of parenting are openly discussed is important to working through stressors. SageForth Psychological Services offers parenting support sessions.
